Our engineering technicians partner with design engineers to debug first prototypes, including new circuits or systems. They may also modify designs and build and test prototype circuits for new products, perform expert-level PCB and unit modifications, including adjusting, calibrating, aligning, and modifying circuitry and components. Garmin is looking for a full time Senior Engineering Technician to support the product development team in our Santa Barbara, CA area office. In this role you will be responsible for recommending design improvements and changes in advanced circuitry or assembly methods to improve reliability or simplify assembly and maintenance. Other essential functions include:
Serve as expert on lab equipment/tools, including maintenance and coordinating routine calibration of lab test fixtures and test equipment, and may also design test fixture improvements using standard or automated tools (MATLAB, C/C , etc?)
Work on die-level testing and processing prototype device wafers in a clean room environment
Assist engineers in designing and developing new test platforms to automate wafer-level, die-level, and device-level testing processes.
Work closely with engineers on data analysis to draw trends and correlations on component performance results using MATLAB and other tools
Assist engineers in maintaining process control charts to ensure quality of production parts.
Troubleshoot various test equipment such as testing electronics, vacuum and packaging systems
Write technical reports, including documentation of the test setup, block diagrams, and test setup schematics to fully document test results and analysis
Set up, run and complete detailed qualification plans and reports with little direction and produce error free reports
Lead or assist with new component evaluation and qualification
Qualified candidates possess an Associate's Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering Technology or another substantially similar electronics or technical field AND a minimum of 4 years' experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description. Other requirements include: Experience in die-level and wafer-level component testing, as well as die-level assembly, packaging, and manufacturing Experience working in clean-room environments and familiarity with clean-room protocols Experience in qualification testing for packaged integrated circuits Demonstrated understanding of advanced level schematic designs and design of test circuits Must demonstrate expert proficiency using lab equipment and tools including ability to efficiently create test setups and advanced level designs Demonstrates understanding of electrical engineering/software system interactions and can differentiate between hardware and software problemsOur benefits are designed to lead an evolving marketplace, support innovation and encourage a healthy balance between work and life.
